There will also be five new members of the Gelly family :) again i am looking forward to the blue!

Key Lime (Lime Green), Guava (Teal), Passion Fruit (Pink/Red), Blue Grape (Cobalt Blue), Mango (Orange)
Both Polishes will retail at £3.99 and will be available on June 5th in Superdrug and Boots on June 12th :)

InVogue Desire & Feeling Fruity

I was finding it hard to decide on a shade last night so in the end i just had a play with two of my new polishes from +Fragrance Direct
These are InVogue Hi Res Feeling Fruity and Desire. Desire is the pink.
The glitter is SO beautiful and its very shimmery in the light and i especially love the fade.
I have tried to capture to glitter but its so hard!
The stamp is a Cheeky stamp from +Amazon.co.uk. Part of the Summer 2012 range

Leaf Studded Design

Using OPIs Stranger Tides and Don't Mess With OPI i created a mani inspired by the great outdoors.
I used Cheeky Plate CH33 And Konad Special Polish in White for the leaf design.
The Black Studs are from Born Pretty and can be bought HERE
The Born Pretty Store is based in China so the delivery to the UK takes about 12ish days but they have a wide range and the prices are very good.

I used nail glue to attach the studs so i could make sure they wouldn't pop off, i also have a habit of picking at 3D embellishments so the glue helps to keep them in place :)

InVogue Matt Concrete Effect Nails

Received this in the post today, nail mail!!
I Purchased a few InVogue Polishes from +Fragrance Direct as id never seen them before but they are only £2.50. How can you resist that?!
When OPI brought out liquid sand i really didn't like the idea of having a textured nail but i must say i actually liked Spellbound by InVogue, the colour is really bright and looks fantastic. I couldnt stop looking at them and toching them.Even my son kept touching them "ooo bumpy!"
The overall effect is matt. Iveadded a topcoat to the ring finger so you could see the difference between the matt and shiny effects.
It was as annoying as glitter polish to remove but it was surprisingly easier when removing the one with a top coat on.
All in all i would wear this again as the colour is so beautiful and bright.

Fruity Grape Mani

Today I've taken part in the Nail Polish Lovers Weekly Challenge to create a design inspired by fruit.

I chose to do grapes and a stamped accent nail.

Base is Kleancolor Love is in the air
Grapes are Kleancolor Plum and accented in Konad Special Polish in white.
Vine parts are Sinful colors Envy and Manhattan Rock Topia in shade 4

Kleancolor's love is in the air is actually a beautiful colour, it has a really nice green shimmer to it i have done two coats here but i feel if i wanted it to be really opaque it would require three. I didnt want the base colour to be to bold though so i opted for two.

Accent nail is Kleancolor Plum as a base and Konad polish in white. I also used cheeky plate number CH42 from the summer 2012 collection.

I know the stamping has smudged abit but this was already my second attempt, i have no idea whats happened to my stamping recently?! It used to be so easy!
I must just be having and off week.

The grapes where super easy to do all i used was a dotting tool. I'm starting to use these more than the finer brushes as most of the time i feel they give a better result for me. Brushes tent to streak.

What do you think? Would you wear a fruity mani?

Kleancolor Matt Holo Glitter

2x Coats of Catch Me by Kleancolor
3xCoats of Chunky Holo Teal by Kleancolor
1xCoat of Matte Top Coat by Orly

I know the stamping is smudged but i really wanted to show this design
I love the look of matte glitter and this blue is truly beautiful in real life.
This glitter is lovely, it really catches the light and shows off the all the different colours.

here's some pictures without the stamping

Also i love the lid of the Orly Matte topcoat as its all rubbery and so easy to grip. Nice :)
The only problem i have is that Kleancolor polishes never last on me which is such a shame as they are so beautiful. Has anyone had the same issue?
It literally peels off in big bits :(

Barry M Bright Purple Swatch

3x Coats of Barry M Bright Purple Nail Paint
No Top Coat

As always Barry M is lovely to work with, but recently Ive really started to hate the lid. Ive got quite big hands and i find the shiny roundness of it annoying.
Beautiful Purple Shade, its been so sunny here today i had to swatch a summer colour :)

How to Make Your Own Nail Decals, Simples!

Well then Lacquer Lovers have you ever had problems with placement of individual konad stamps? Or have you ever wanted to premake some hand painted decals for another time or for a friend?

Here's a new way of getting them perfect!

I'm feeling like a nail genius today!

Okay so here it goes....
First you need to fine something that the nail polish will remove easily from. I chose a Nail Form. nail forms are used in acrylic nail sculpting.
^This is a nail form^

Then i used my Lumos Top Coat and placed a thick coat over the top of the form
Leave this to dry. I left to dry over night as I had forgotten about it... Oopsies :)

Then loosen it from the nail form.

^This is the nail polish "film" That you have made to stamp on to^

Stamp into the Nail Polish "film"
Cut to size
Then place onto your nails and topcoat over

TADA!
EDIT: You could also use it to embed things like a pretty napkin or thin fabric by following all previous steps but just dont wait for the polish to dry on the form, add when its wet. Then add one more coat of clear polish ontop when dry.
Okay so its not perfect as you can see a slight line if you look really closely at the nail but I'm sure there are ways around this. This is my first attempt. You could try actually cutting around the image so there is no border?
You could also hand paint tour design instead of stamping using either acrylic paints or nail polish.

Give this a try and email me some pics and ill upload them for other to see on here :)

Sinful Colors Island Coral Swatch

Sinful Colors 3x Coats of Island Coral
Lumos Top Coat
This is such a summer colour and i can see coral shades being very popular!
I wasn't that keen when i saw the bottle but for £1.99 i couldn't resist it!
On the nail it is lovely though, an orangey pink shade.

This has got me in a summer mood :)

Purchased from Boots

Cupcake Nails

Messy hands...Naughty!

Ive never tried doing cupcake nails before but i have seen so many other good examples on other blogs, its time i gave it a go.

I used nine polishes for this design!!
Its hard to see in these photos but the cases are Matte and the frosting is shiny!

I used Barry M Mushroom and Kleancolor Mocha for the cases. Kleancolor Mocha is the stripes.

The blue frosting is Kleancolor Pastel Teal with Kleancolor Starry Blue glitter sprinkles.
The pink icing is Essie Flawless with Barry M Silver Cascade sprinkles

The cute little hearts are Kleancolor Twinkly Love

There is a base colour on this design by Kleancolor called Cream Pearl but you really cant see it unless you look really closely. I just didn't want the nails to be bare underneath as I'm not keen on this idea.

I used a very thin dotting tool to do all of this. And i picked out the glitter individually using the dotting tool too. I did try a brush but it didn't cover very well and looked streaky.

I also think that i should have made the cases smaller especially on my ring finger.

here is a close up of my little finger.

what do you all think?

Nautical Nails again :)

I apologise for the messiness of this application, i had a few problems with this design and i was getting abit annoyed ;P

OK so here we have another nautical design using Barry M polishes.

I used Cheeky Plate CH36 from the summer 2012 collection.
Stamped using Barry M Gelly Pomegranate and Blackberry.
Base is Barry M White
Holographic striping tape and diamante to finish.

I do love this design as i really like this stamp, but i maybe should have kept all the nails the same design as i think it looks abit "busy"

I used Lumos top coat to help the tape stay down and i left the polish a good hour before applying and is STILL smudged the stamping.
does anyone have any tips on how i can prevent this?
I'm thinking of changing to Seche Vite as i find the Lumos only completely dries on professional polishes and not on budget or high street ranges. I find it works really well on China Glaze for instance but not very well on say Barry M or Kleancolor.

China Glaze Fuchsia Swatch

China Glaze Fuchsia
Lumos Bottom and Top Coat
2x Fuchsia
Such a bright summer colour, i can see this being used in ALOT of my nail art this summer. Opaque in 2 coats and goes on like a dream.
It has a ever so slight shimmer, but i wouldn't call it a shimmer polish.
Well it is China Glaze!!

Louis Vuitton Inspired Nails, Paris Fashion Week 2013

It was all about the chequered pattern at the Paris fashion week for Louis Vuitton, so i have done a nail design inspired by this pattern.
Checks are bound to be everywhere by summer.

I used Cheeky Plate CH3 for the checks and Fuchsia by China Glaze for the base colour.
Barry M Gelly Blackberry for the stamping.
I did find the pattern abit of a pain to get straight, and its not dead on but i think it looks fab.
This is a bright, vibrant take on the monotone version.
The design will look great with a tan!

Matte Monster Nails

Ive been so busy this week ive had no time to do any nails :(

My eldest son started playgroup this week and i thought i would use that as inspiration for these nails

Monster Nails for my little monster
And for a change I used a matt topcoat.

Barry M white x2 coats
Cheeky Plate CH32 (from the summer 2012 range)
Stamping colours are
Thumb:17-Jitterbug
Index:China Glaze-City Siren
Middle:Kleancolor-Barbie Pink
Ring:Kleancolor-Plum
Pinky:Kleancolor-Neon Aqua

Orly Matte topcoat
The colours arnt as bright as I hoped they would be, i really should invest in some actual coloured stamping polishes.

Hope you enjoy these cheeky nails, for my little man who isnt so little anymore.

Nail Stamping,The Basics

I have ordered some more stamping plates by Cheeky from the amazon site and waiting for them to arrive. Keep your eyes peeled (gross!) for some new nails soon....
I love using stamping plates because with just a little practise you can get amazing results. They can me abit hard to get used to as you have to be super quick once you've picked up the polish on the stamp.

For anyone who is reading this who doesn't know how to use stamping plates ill give a brief explanation...
First choose your design, i actually find this the hardest part!!
Place some nail polish or special polish on to the plate over the design and use the scraper to scrape over in one direction only. This will remove excess polish as only a tiny bit is needed.
then roll the stamper over the design to pick it up
very quickly roll the design on the nail.

It will take a few goes to get it right but it can really enhance your nails. I use stamping ALL the time.
The most well known brand is probably Konad. I use Cheeky and Bundle Monster plates that i buy from +Amazon.co.uk . They are considerably cheaper and i have never had any problems with them really. Some designs don't pick up as well but that may well be down to a number of other factors such as the polish used.
There is also other brands such as Mash and MoYou. I have not tried these.

You can use many polishes fro stamping but the general view is that if they are opaque in one coat then they may work. I have found that the Barry M Foil Effect Colours work AMAZINGLY and i use these regularly.
I also use old polishes that have gone abit thick. They tend to work quite well.
*TIP* Slightly buff the pad of the stamper with a nail file to help it pick up the polish.

You can even use multiple Designs together if your feeling extra creative :)

Here's some examples of Stamping i did last year.....

These two are done over IBD Just Gel, The pink one has a mica pigment scrubbed in to it.

This is a Zebra print over a China Glaze grey.

Id love to hear about any other polishes or Tips anyone has :D
