Tropical Paradise

It has been so hot here recently and I just had to do a tropical themed nail art.
I apologize about my terrible cuticles! They are just getting worse and worse!
For the gradient I used BarryM's Lemon Ice Cream as a base. I then used a makeup sponge and Essie's Fear and Desire and Orange it Obvious to create the fade.

I used Kleancolors Holo Poppy for the glitter.
The Palm tree is painted using acrylic paint.

I hope you are all having a lovely hot week!

Starry Night

I was sent a few packets of nail stickers From Nailtopia and I found it really hard to decide which ones to use as they are all soo pretty!

Today Ive chosen to use these stars. They are gold glitter and they have a really high glitter content.
They actually look like they are made from the glitter i also have on my nails, not like overly sticky out like stickers usually are.

Nailtopia sent these and i received them the next day! I love not having to wait for things.

I used the same technique I used for the Trees nail art HERE
The background is BarryM Blueberry Ice Cream with BarryM Cobalt Blue and BarryM Gelly in Guava.
The glitter is my all time fave Kleancolor 24 Carat. I use this glitter more than i use any other glitter, its beautiful!

To purchase these stickers and a wealth of other nail art supplies check out Nailtopia HERE

*These decals were sent to me for an HONEST review by Nailtopia. The views on this product are COMPLETELY my own.*

More Leopard Print!

Feeling really down in the dumps today and just wasn't in the mood really to do anything at all but I received a new nail art pen set today and I wanted to give it a go.
The base is OPI If You Moust You Moust and the dots are BarryM Gelly in Guava
I wanted a more rugged type of print but in the picture it just looks messy.
Basically my new pen is an actual dip fountain pen. It came with 5 interchangeable heads and 2 handles.
It was hard to get used to in the beginning but it seems to produce a nice thin line.
The pen uses acrylic paint that only works when it has been watered down to the consistency of double cream.

The only problem I had was that sometimes paint would flood my nail and ruin the whole design!
(this happened to a design I did after this one, which infuriated me even more ARRRGG)

I think I need a lot more practise with this and I am not sure its worth all the extra effort.

They would have looked lovely, if I could do them!
The base is Island Coral by Sinful Colors. Pictured here with 2 coats and Poshe topcoat.
For some reason i just couldn't get these too look good and then ended up messing one up completely.
So here's my attempt at daisies.
more practise needed!

Lady's and Magenta-men with Water Decals

This is Lady's and Magenta-men by OPI.
I received this as a gift from my husband along with the water decals.
I'm not even really sure what the decals are supposed to be pictures of LOL

But never the less, they are pretty!

Lady's and Magenta-men is quite similar to China Glazes Fuchsia.
A shimmery Bright,bold pink.
Pictured here with 2 coats and Poshe topcoat.
I can just imagine this shade on my toes whilst sitting out in the sun, a proper summery shade.

The black pearls are from eBay.

Trees Against a Sunset Nail Art

Its been hot here recently, I decided to use my oranges.
I don't use them that much but whenever I do I remember how beautiful they are.

To do this I used
Essie's Fear and Desire, Orange it Obvious and Flawless.
BarryM's Bright Pink
Oumaxi Acrylic Paint in black and white.

To achieve the background I painted 2 coats of Essie Flawless (light pink). Then used a sponge to mottle over the different colours until it looked good :P

One thing that did annoy me was for some reason i kept getting little bits coming off the sponge!

This is another really easy one to do, so give it ago!

Love Nailz Costume Swatch

Here is Costume by Love Nailz.
A handmade indie polish from Canada.
This is by far one of the most beautiful polishes Ive worn in a long time.

It is a lush green with holo glitter. It has a very high content on glitter but still applies very smoothly and has a great finish

These pictures are all 2 coats with no topcoat.

Sorry for the amount of pictures its just that I found it really hard to capture the glitter and shimmer.

This polish really reminds me of a foil type polish as its very metallic.

You can buy this and other beautiful indies by Love Nailz HERE

Anniversary Rose Nails

Its our third wedding anniversary today so i thought i would do a little nail art to celebrate whilst my husbands at work.
This is OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes. 2 Coats here with a Poshe topcoat.
It is a truly beautiful copper rose shade with a shimmer. Unfortunately you cannot really see the shimmer here and it is subtle. If you squint you can see it LOL
I used Oumaxi White acyclic paint to do the roses.
These are my first roses ever and I think I did okay!
I chose white as my wedding flowers were white roses.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar with New Acrylic Paints

My son made me a very hungry caterpillar at playgroup today and i couldn't resist having a go at a nail art!
I am gutted! As i was uploading the pictures i realised i had forgotten to put any legs on the poor bug!!

This is the first time i have used acrylic paint instead of nail polish for a nail art.

The white is BarryM in White.

I purchased a set of nail acrylic paint from +eBay from China. I had to wait a few weeks for delivery but that's okay as they cost £3.50.
The brand is Oumaxi and they are really good, not too thick or thin. I found them really easy to use.

I also purchased a new nail art brush, from eBay, also from China. When it arrived it came with a Born Pretty business card so I assume its from their eBay site.
I only payed 50p for it! The handle is made out of bamboo and it okay but i need more practice.

So do you remember this book? Was it one of your favorites?

BarryM Gelly Guava Bubbles

This is a BarryM Gelly in Guava. A new addition to the Gelly family.
Unfortunately I the photograph doesn't show the colour as i had hoped.
Its a bit more turquoise in real life.

I was really disappointed with the consistency of this product. It was quite thick and hard to apply. But the colour is truly beautiful! I am not a fan of a thick polish, it reminds me of a cheap polish.
Its actually put me off using this polish again which is sad as its so beautiful.

The bubbles are done using OPI If You Moust You Moust and Barry M Nail Art Pen in White.

O.P.I Marbled with Bow

Here is my NOTD. A marbled accent nail with a bow, that i actually purchased from Poundland!
I used Dutch Ya Just Love OPI and If You Moust You Moust. Both by OPI.
Dutch Ya Just Love OPI is a beautiful purple with a subtle gold glitter.
Perfect coverage in 2 coats.

To do the marble all i did was used a dotting tool to mix together a few bigger blobs of polish on my nails. I love simple designs like this as they take no time to do and still look good and alot better than just plain old polish :)

Accessorize Speckled Swatches

I purchased these from Superdrug a couple weeks ago on a 3 for 2 as i am really into glitters at the mo and I wanted to try these out.
Big apologises in advance of my TERRIBLE cuticles and side walls! Gross! No excuses, i will sort them :)

So first up is Damselfly. Here it is with 3 coats, no top coat.

A light blue, almost turquoise with dark blue and silver glitter. This is my fave out of all three. All three polishes applied really well, i was actually surprised as i thought that with all the glitter i would get a rubbish cuticle line but in fact all these swatches had NO clean-up so that's a bonus.

Next up is Dragonfly, also pictured with 3 coats and no top coat
A green with blue hex's. This is my least favourite as i think this colour combination is a tad boring!

Last up is Butterfly, you guessed it... 3 coats with no top coat.
A PVA glue style white base with red and black hex's. Loved this!

The formula was really good on all the polishes and the glitter distribution was fair too. I hate the lid on these! I have big ol' hands and its hard to use :(
I loved the jelly type effect these had and it created depth as the glitter from the previous coats are slightly covered.
Lovely Polishes all in all and there are a few other shades available.
Buy from Superdrug HERE for £3.45

Glitter, If You Moust!

I'm in love!

This is OPI's If You Moust You Moust. Taken from the Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection 2012.
2 coats for perfect coverage. Although it was a tad streaky at times.
A Beautiful Bright but light pink.
I used Kleancolors 24 Carat for the glitter. Holo gold glitter with holo diamonds. This glitter is one of my fave glitter polishes I own as it really shines!
I used a sponge to apply the glitter to avoid over clogging the nail with excess polish.

Essie Peacock

Its our three year wedding anniversary next week and my lovely hubby bought me some very gorgeous Essie and OPI polishes from +Fragrance Direct

Here Is Essie's Bikini So Teeny a stunning shimmering bluey grey type purple ha ha. This is the bottle I'm holding in the pic,
Mojito Madness is the yummy green. This had a fantastic consistancy and was opaque in two very thin coats.
and the pink is Cascade Cool. A dusky, pastel pink.
All the Essie polishes have, of course, a fantastic formula and colour coverage.
The shimmer in Bikini So Teeny really catches the light and sets this polish apart from the few other pastel blues I own.

I used stamping plate BM-212 and used a dotting tool to fill in the centres.

I have never met a Essie, that i didn't like :)

Pocket Money Polishes, Meet Charlie!

Hello My Lacquered Lovelys!

Tomorrow marks the launch of Pocket Money Polishes first indie collection called Glitter Babies.
So I thought we could use this as an excuse to get to know the lovely Charlie.

Charlie Smith has been running Pocket Money Polish blog for just over 3 months and now has her very own indie range!

So Charlie tell us all a bit about yourself...

I am currently working on my PhD thesis about the media representations of female killers, my undergrad degree was in drama though so I've always been quite creative. I have two house bunnies Teddy (the mini lop) and Dora (the Netherlands dwarf) who are my fluffy babies and run free in the dining room. I have just started water colour painting which has been really therapeutic if somewhat distracting from all my other projects.
I am someone who can't stand the quiet and I always have either my TV on or music playing. I love American dramas, especially crime related ones - I have a new crush every day of the week but I am a single lady and quite happy with that. Yes ok I am a crazy rabbit and polish lady and no one will have me but shhhh. I usually cover the polish smells in my room with Yankee candles at the moment I have paradise spice which is all kinds of gorgeous!

How did you get into nails and blogging?

I discovered nail art when my friend Lou started up her blog She Who Does Nails and kind of just went from there. I started out with stamping and then dotting and free hand and I thought why not start a blog. 3.5 months later I have a couple of hundred followers and I have made some really amazing friends including some American Indie makers.
I spend hours working on my blog every day. I have just under 100 bottles now (I think) and I love BarryM. I like autumn colours but when it comes to nails pretty much anything goes - I have a pretty good rainbow now.

Tell us about your new collection, Glitter Babies...

I tried to make something for everyone from the softer My Girl to the very bright I Put A Spell On You. I decided to make small bottles because a) the bottles I found were so cute and b) I like the idea of having enough for a good number of manis but then you can finish the bottle and try something new. I am only just finishing my bottles of BarryM from over a year ago and they're only 7mls. I may offer larger bottles in the future though. I love wrapping up the parcels - feels like I am mailing out Christmas presents!

Charlies range debuts on the 10th June at 9am and can be found HERE
Charlie can also be found blogging HERE

 Charlies adorable bunnies!!
