Arrow Doodle Nail Art

We have something less gross on the blog today, here is a simple nail art with a doodle feel.
I saw this image on Pinterest and it inspired me to create this nail art. Mine is no way as good mind you!

Easy Opi Arrow Doodle Nail Art tribal aztec hand painted

I used

OPI Pink Friday
Color Club Unknown (I think its Gingerbread)
Acrylic Paint

Just a quick mani today but I am happy with it. The reverse French style would be cute as an all over mani too,
What do you think?

Bright Watercolour Effect Nail art

Hello my lovelies!
Been another stressful week, will I ever get used to the school routine?!

I have no idea what to call this nail art. Its bright and reminds me of slushed watercolour with perhaps an Indian sari type theme? I have no idea!
Well anyway here it is....

Life in Lacquer Nail Art Challenge:MONOCHROME

We have nearly reached the end of this month long challenge and I would love to hear your thoughts about how its gone, your favourite design and any improvements in running the challenge, just incase I decide to do one again one day!

This prompt is another fave of mine. Monochrome is very trendy and I love the contrast in the black and white

This was not my original design as I messed up the one i did previously. I am far happier with this design though as it really is something different for me.

As you may also be able to see is that I have gone back to the more pointy nail shape. I really do prefer this shape. What is your fave nail shape?

I used Art Club Stripers by Color Club . They are okay but they get thick everytime I use them.

I hope you like them! Please take a look at the other nail arts from this challenge by many other talented nail artists!

Fantasy Unicorn Nail Art

This has got to be the cutest, most girly nail art I have ever done!

I used some nail vinyl stencils from She Sells Seashells for the unicorn. I know I have been doing loads of reviews for Nail Stickrs recently but of course they are not the only supplier and they do different stencils too. She Sells Sea Shells is also based in the UK.
They were easy to use and I got a great result too! I used Konad stamping polish in white to do them as it covers better than other whites.

You also get the cut outs left in the middle so they can be used as stickers :)

I used Zoya Robyn, Unnamed Color Club Glitter, Essie Cascade Cool and Zoya Mira

I used Essie Cascade Cool as the base. Its such a powdery sweet pink. I really love it. Then used a sponge to splodge on the two +Zoya Nail Polish. Topped off with the Color Club glitter.
I hate that they don't label half the Color Clubs! I think its all the ones that come in sets that remain unnamed.

The metal charms are from eBay. I think I payed like £1 for a wheel with loads of different designs.

What do you think of my unicorn fantasy nails? I LOVE them!

I think I may be turning into an actual girly girl! HELP!

You can browse and buy various stencils and other nail art items from She Sells Seashells HERE

Color Club Worth The Risque Nail Art

I have been doing a lot of girly nail arts recently...
So now I have gone for something abit more flashy!
This reminds me of something very futuristic, a bit like the mani I did for KBShimmers Blog a while back.
I bought this Color Club polish, along with a few others, a really long time ago and I am only now just getting round to trying it!

This is two coats but to be honest if you were in a rush then one thick coat would work just fine!

Worth The Risque is quite a strong holo in real life.
I really really like it!

Color Club also do a range of stripers and I used the black to do the pattern. The stripers are actually really good and cover really well!
I added the studs into the topcoat. I purchased them from the Born Pretty Store.

What do you think of this?
Thanks for reading, my lovelies!

Gustav Klimt Inspired Nail Art

Its time for Father in Law nail art again!!
I am going to start calling this "segment" Marcus's Manis

It looks like this will become a regular thing, which is great.... An art lesson and nail art.

Today we have a nail art inspired by Gustav Klimt. We decided to pick out elements of the image below and kind of combine them (taken from Google Images) This painting is a portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer I

Marcus loved the brushed bronzey gold of the background so that's where we started. He used a fan brush to "scrub" Bronze (actually out of a Color Club striper) over Avons Deluxe Chocolate.

Marcus then proceeded to hand paint the design. The design looks ancient Egyptian to me LOL

I have had to take this pictures with natural light by my window instead of in my tent thing as I couldn't get the scrubbing etc to show....

Just look at the scrubbing texture! Its like antique looking. It really gives it more dimension and helps to make the design!

As always I think Marcus has done a fabulous job! He seems to be improving every time.
Oh and he actually paints everything including the nail polish etc I do nothing!

I really like having them done actually, we have a laugh and we all sit around together. Its lovely to spend quality time together and mix that in with my passion! <3

What do you think?

and as always you can check out Marcus on his website HERE

Nautical Nail Art

I am a MASSIVE fan of nautical nail art.
Don't ask me why but I really do!

For this look I used some charms from She Sells Seashells. I had seen so many nail bloggers using these charms I could resist getting some! They are very affordable. The ones I purchased were £1 for 50 and postage is £1 for second class! so of course I had to get a few different designs!
I just wish they had 10000 different charms to choose from lol!!

For this look I used a gold anchor and a gold ships wheel. 50 charms are going to last me a while!
I just pressed them lightly into my topcoat to secure them.

I always find horizontal stripes a pain in the ass but I think I have done the best I could.
I used a gold glitter by Color Club which I believe is Gingerbread and nail stripers also by Color Club. If you are looking for stripers I really recommend these. They have good coverage and the brushes are good too.

I hope you like this nail art today! Have a great week, well whats left of it!

Life in Lacquer is One!!

Can you believe it?
Life in Lacquer is one years old!!!

I cant believe its actually been a year, in fact I forgot!
The "blogiversary" was actually yesterday..... DOH!

It has been an eventful year and I have made some lovely friends in the "nail world"
If I didn't start this blog I would have never have met you lovely people so for that I am thankful <3

It crept up on me so quickly, I wanted to run a giveaway and such but that will have to wait.....

To mark my one year anniversary I have done some lovely cake nail art! You may remember I did do some cupcake nail art right back in the beginning (post HERE) so I thought I would give it another go. I hope I have improved!

For this mani I used a Sick Lacquers nail polish. This one is called Cotton Candied and its such a beautiful polish. Sick Lacquers were my first international indie brand and to this day they are still my fave.
White crellys are where its at for me!
The pictures show two coats with Seche Vite.

Its such a happy polish and I think it works so well in this design.

I also used Robyn by Zoya, another of my fave polishes. Such a pretty colour!

I used Color Club stripers to do the cupcake and two OPI's for the case.
Color Club stripers are the bees knees!

So what do you think? Do you see an improvement compared to my old cupcake mani?

My Stash!

Hey everyone!

I am sooo poorly :( :(

I have no energy to do my nails which is so sad as i have a few new ones this week!

So instead i decided to give mine a little dusting and take a pic to show you all.

Now i know this doesn't look like a lot compared with other peoples or bloggers but i only have a limited budget and often buy them in sales or from "nail friends"

I usually have them stored on shelves in my living room and that's another reason i only keep my faves as I don't have room for more shelves!

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks i should have my new indies coming from the likes of Polish Me Silly, KBShimmer and some samples too. So keep an eye of for those babies.

If i am honest I am getting sick of mainstream brands. Alot of the "new" releases seem to be dupes either to other brands or the same brand just a few seasons ago. I like that Indies can offer a fuller more varied range although some of them are starting to look a tad same-y.

My favourite brand fro main stream has to be Zoya. I love PixieDust and their creme shades are delightful!
I just wish the brush was slightly wider.

I hope you've all had a good week and have a great weekend folks!

Laquerdiasiccal Boulder Dot Dot Dash Swatch and Review

Here today we have another Laquerdaisical polish for ya!

Its called Boulder Dot Dot Dash.
Alexia, the creator of Laquerdaisical, described this as a pale grey jelly with multicoloured matte glitters.

I could see the tinted base in the bottle but couldn't notice on the nail so I have included pictures without undies (base colour) and with undies.

(look at that little squiggly glitter on my index nail, love it!)

As with all Laquerdaisical polishes I have tried this applies fantastically. Has a great amount of glitter.
The pictures above are 2 coats with no topcoat.

The colour of the glitter are so bright and remind me of the 80's!
Not that I was alive then but you get me!

Here it is layered over Color Club Silver Lake.

I mean freaking look at this!
I LOVE IT!
I showed my husband and he said "wow, that IS good"
That right there is the best recommendation a polish can have!

I can imagine this used in loads of ways. Layered up with jellys or used in a glitter fade.

What do you think? What other colours do you think would love lovely with this polish?

You can purchase this and many other handmade polishes from Laquerdaisical's Facebook Page

**these polish were sent to me for my HONEST review, please see my disclaimer page for more info**

Reverse Waterfall Nail Art

I have to start off by saying YAY!!!
My Facebook blew up today and I have gone from 182 like to 305!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because of this I will be doing a GIVEAWAY soon!

Anyway.......
Here is a twist on a waterfall mani. I first saw this type of mani over at The Nailasaurus.

I used Zoya Perrie as the base. Not really my colour if I am honest as I don't think it goes with my skin tone?

I then used Color Club Fashion Addict to fade some holo in from the tips.

To do the waterfall type effect I used some of my new Stripers. I believe they are also by Color Club.
The sripers are actually really good, plus they are bloody cheap!

So what do you think?

Oh and if you want to pop over to facebook and give me a "Like" you can HERE

Winner of HPB Giveaway

On New Years Eve I received the BEST email ever!
I had won 3rd prize in the Hobby Polish Bloggers Winter Giveaway !

I got the email at like 11pm so rang in the new year in a fantastic mood!!
Last New Years Eve my son was admitted to hospital and it was a very stressful and upsetting time and the rest of the year didn't seem to go much better.
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come in 2014!!

I had a choice of a $100 voucher for Llarowe, Ninja polish or a paypal transfer of the money.
I choice Paypal transfer as I had my eye on some polishes from TNBL.

Here is what I spent my winnings on.....

After a LOT of research I found these beautiful Color Clubs! They are Holos but are not part of the holo hues collection so work out at like £3 from TNBL!

Here is (In no particular order) Fashion Addict, Revvolution, Worth The Risque and Wild At Heart.

I saw these and couldn't resist them really. I didn't get black or white as I already have some from the Born Pretty Store but on reflection I should have bought new ones as the ones from the Born Pretty Store are crap.

I also bought a few top and base coats (not pictured)

I had a massive problem ordering from TNBL as it just wouldn't go through but somebody talked to me the whole time online, for around 4 hours, no joke!
As an apology for their site not liking me they gave me a free Color Club polish and bumped my shipping up so I would get them the next day (I ordered at nearly 6pm!)
I thought that was really good customer service as i have had problems with other sites and they don't seem to care. Way to go TNBL!

These are really good stripers. Stay tuned for a nail art with some of this stuff soon.....

What do you think of my choices? What would you buy if you won $100 (about 58 GBP)

Rose Water Decals

Christmas is over :(
I love the festive season and I love having the family all together.

I mentioned in another post about a prize I won in a giveaway. This is one of the packs of water decals I chose from +BornPretty BPS

I am incredibly disappointed with this :(
The decals didn't show their colours over this base which is Red-ical Gypsy by Color Club.
This shade enraged me no end. Its like dark and jelly and building the colour is shit!! Ive been put right off this, its all patchy!
It is darker in real life, more of a muddy red.

So all in all not chuffed. But manis cant be good all of the times :P
I hope you all had a fab Christmas? I hope you got all you wanted x

First Christmas Nails!! Snowflake Stickers

This is my first Christmas post EVER!!

I have been sent these lovely snowflake stickers from Sparkly Nails to try out!

They are a bumpy 3D texture, spongy almost LOL!

They come in various sizes and look fab with Color Clubs Otherworldly!

Otherwordly is a bright blue jelly with holo glitter. Unfortunately you cant really tell its holo glitter on the nail but you can in the bottle. It basically just looks like silver glitter.
Still pretty though!

The stickers can be purchased HERE

**one or more of the items featured here have been sent to me for my HONEST review. Please see my disclaimer for more details**

Firework Nail Art

Ive not been around much lately.
I hope your all not missing me too much!!

My nails have taken a battering... I have on broken my middle finger and the poor finger has developed some very sore skin :(

But I have soldiered on and finally done some firework nail art!

These are stamped using the Festive Plate 5 by MoYou London.
The base is Williamsburg by Color Club.
A lovely deep glitter blue and perfect coverage in two coats.

I also used a pastel yellow, blue and white special stamping polish by Konad.

How was your Bonfire Night?
Did you get to see any fireworks?

Simple Stripes

Yesterday I went to TK Maxx and found a set of Color Clubs for £9.99. The set features seven colours from the Girl About Town collection.
I have only ever tried one Color Club before and was keen to try some more!

I chose to use Silver Lake. A very light grey. I used two coats for perfect coverage. The formula and application are fab. Although I don't think it suits my skin tone.

Again, my pics are not great. In fact I seem to be getting worse! Lighting is rubbish! I am so close to investing in a light box but I just don't know (opinions VERY welcome!)

I used a tiny brush from a nail art set by Essence. I bought it from Sally Magpies (and its on half price clearance!)
Its so thin and really nice to use.

I used BarryM Gelly in Blackberry to so the stripes but I found it got thick very quickly so was very hard to get straight lines :(

What do you think? What's your fave brush to use?

Have a great weekend!

Aztec Style Nail Stamping

Hello lovelys!

I hope you all enjoyed the previous post from Penguins Left Green Polish. I sure did! Make sure to pop on over to her Blog as today is her birthday!!

Today I have some basic stamping from a Cheeky Jumbo Plate called Viva Mexico. As you may recall I had some problems with a Cheeky delivery (you can read that post HERE) That has since been resolved somewhat and a partial refund was given.

For this I have used a fan brush to brush Color Clubs Put a Pin In It over China Glazes Foie Gras.
Simples!
I love browns but I don't get to use them as much as I would like as i find it hard to think of ways to jazz it up!

I used Konad in white to do the stamping.

so what do you think?
